Despite the importance of the goal, Switzerland striker Brill Embolo refused to celebrate, after scoring in the 2022 World Cup match for his country.
After an equal match, Embolo succeeded in scoring for the Swiss national team against his Cameroonian opponent, in the 48th minute, in the Group G competitions in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, on Thursday.
Despite his colleagues’ joy at the important goal, Embolo remained standing and raised his hands up, while sadness appeared on his face, refusing to celebrate his first goal in the World Cup.
It turned out later that Embolo, the star of Switzerland, is of Cameroonian origin, and he was born in the capital, Yawande, in 1997.
But at the age of 5, Embolo’s mother took the little boy to France, after her separation from Embolo’s father.
There, she met a Swiss man whom she married, who took care of Embolo and moved the family to Switzerland, where Brill Embolo grew up and was included in the football academies of the Swiss club Basel.
Embolo obtained Swiss citizenship in 2014, and over the past years he has become a star of the Swiss national team.
