In an interview with “TnT Universal Tv”, Fatima Omar, a player for the Egyptian Paralympic weightlifting team, described her winning of eight gold medals in the 67-kg weightlifting competitions in the African Open Weightlifting Championship, as a precious victory, which was achieved after great difficulties and great challenges.
* Fatima Omar ranked first after lifting 123 kg, followed by Nigerian player Lucy Ijek, who lifted 122 kg, and then Egyptian Jihan Abdel Aziz Gharib, who lifted 107 kg.
* The African Open Paralympic Weightlifting Championship will be hosted by Egypt from 27 to 31 October at Dr. Hassan Mostafa Hall in 6th of October City in Giza.
* 24 countries are participating in the tournament: (Algeria, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Philippines, Syria, Thailand, Uganda, the United States United, Uzbekistan, Zambia) beside host Egypt.
And about winning this number of medals, Fatima Omar told “TnT Universal Tv” that the most important thing in this victory is that she took her revenge on the Nigerian player who had overtaken her in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Japan.
Fatima confirmed that she will strive more and continue her preparations in order to continue her superiority in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
She stressed that the medals she achieved in the African Open Championship came despite her suffering from severe injuries, noting that she was challenging injuries before the numbers in that tournament, stressing that she will strive to achieve greater numbers.
She explained that she is preparing for the World Weightlifting Championships scheduled for next year and that she will work to achieve gold during it, stressing that she dedicates her victory and the record numbers she achieves to the Egyptian public, who always encourages her and calls her a legend, which makes her very happy.
Fatima thanked everyone who supported her and provided her with the necessary capabilities to achieve this achievement.
It should be noted that Fatima Omar is considered the most prominent Egyptian weightlifter in the history of Paralympic weightlifting, as she did not miss the Paralympic Games podium from Sydney 2000 to Tokyo 2020.
