In an official statement, the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States denied that it had any “media partners” in covering the work of the 31st Arab Summit, which is being held in Algeria, and confirmed that it has no connection with any media organization claiming this capacity.

تابع: https://t.co/tesP6RCffW pic.twitter.com/e0tTVJes0X— جامعة الدول العربية (@arableague_gs) October 29, 2022
The denial comes against the background of the Algeria International Channel “AL24 News” publishing a map of the Arab world on its website that contradicts the map that the League of Arab States has used to adopt, which aroused the reservations of the Moroccan delegation.
The General Secretariat confirmed that the Arab League does not adopt an official map on which the political borders of the Arab countries are shown, and that it adopts a map of the Arab world without showing the borders between countries in order to reinforce the concept of Arab unity.
The General Secretariat also called on all media outlets to exercise great care in attributing the information published on their websites to the Arab League or its institutions.
On the other hand, a high-ranking Moroccan diplomatic source confirmed that “contrary to the allegations of some Algerian websites and media that Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita has left the preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers for the Arab summit in Algeria following a dispute with his Algerian counterpart, this news is baseless.”
The Moroccan News Agency quoted the same source as saying that the Moroccan delegation remained inside the hall and protested the lack of respect for the map of Morocco, as is customary, by an Algerian channel, which forced the Arab League to issue a clarification statement and chair the session to present an apology.
The same source stressed that it is not within the rules and customs of Moroccan diplomatic work, according to royal directives, to leave the meeting room, but rather to defend Morocco’s legitimate rights and vital interests from within the corridors of meetings.
The source concluded, according to the Moroccan News Agency, that all the popular news about the departure of the Moroccan delegation from the meeting hall are unfounded.
