Police respond with gas to mass rallies in various cities of Sudan

Sudan police forces fired tear gas to disperse massive protests that broke out on Sunday in more than 30 cities to demand civilian rule and justice.

Sunday’s marches come a day after the rally; support for the army and a rejection of a possible settlement that would give power to civilians; Her biography groups allied with the Brotherhood.

The authorities closed most of the main bridges linking the three cities of the capital – Khartoum, Omdurman and Khartoum North, intensified their deployment and placed concrete barriers in the main streets leading to the presidential palace and the army general command in central Khartoum.

The new protests coincided with the passing of a year since the measures taken by the army chief, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on the twenty-fifth of October 2021, which ended the partnership that existed between civilians and the military.

The protesters raised slogans demanding the return of the military to their barracks, the formation of a full civilian authority, and the achievement of justice.

While popular protests continue; Some Sudanese political forces say that they are seeking to find a solution to the crisis in cooperation with the tripartite mechanism made up of the United Nations, the African Union and the IGAD Group, in addition to actors in the international community who are pressing strongly to hand over power to civilians.
