Torino beat AC Milan 2-1 on Sunday, inflicting the defending champions with their second loss in the Italian league this season.
Torino grabbed a surprising lead in the 35th minute through defender Kofi Djidji, after a free kick from Valentino Lazaro.
Two minutes later, Alexei Miranchuk consolidated the home’s superiority, using a long pass from goalkeeper Vanya Milinkovic-Savic, to hit a low ball that hit the right post and into the goal.
Milan reduced the difference with a shot from midfielder Junior Macias in the empty goal in the 67th minute, after a mistake by the Turin goalkeeper.
Milan is in third place with 26 points from 12 games, one point behind second-placed Atlanta and 6 points behind leaders Napoli, while Turin jumped to ninth place with 17 points.
