Hundreds of people fell into a river when a suspension bridge collapsed in the western India state of Gujarat on Sunday, officials said.

More than 400 people were on the bridge when it collapsed, falling into the Machu River in the town of Morbi, local TV channel Zee News reported.

A clip broadcast by the channel showed people attached to the cables of the collapsed bridge, while emergency teams rushed to rescue them.
