Former U.S. Open champion Dominic Thiem, aged 30, acknowledges that the current season represents his ‘last chance’ to return to the level of play he expects and climb back up the world rankings after facing setbacks due to injuries.
Struggles and Determination
The former world number three experienced challenges in regaining top form after a wrist injury in 2021, which led to him dropping out of the top 300 in 2022. Ending 2023 ranked 98th, Thiem aimed for a comeback at the Australian Open but exited in the first round. He emphasizes the urgency of this season, expressing the belief that a quick turnaround is possible.
Parting Ways with Long-Time Coach
Alongside his determination for a comeback, Thiem also revealed that he has parted ways with his long-time coach, Benjamin Ebrahimzadeh.
