Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, 23, may face uncertainty in participating in Friday’s Bundesliga match against Heidenheim, as he has been absent from team training in recent days due to an adductor muscle problem. Coach Edin Terzic provided insights during a press conference on Wednesday regarding Sancho’s fitness status.
Sancho’s Recent Move and Fitness Update
The England international recently joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United earlier this month, marking a return to the club after four years. His move followed a period of sidelining at Manchester United due to a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag. Despite making an instant impact with an assist on his debut and contributing to three consecutive wins since the season’s restart in January, Sancho now faces concerns about his fitness.
“Jadon Sancho could not train with the team in the past two days because of some adductor muscle problems,” Terzic explained. “It is not surprising really given his long break. We will not be taking any big risk and will assess his condition before deciding whether to include him for the trip to Heidenheim.”
Other Player Concerns and Team Performance
Coach Terzic also mentioned doubts about the availability of Julian Brandt, Marco Reus, and goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, stating that they are all improving, and decisions will be made closer to the match day.
Borussia Dortmund’s recent winning streak in 2024 has propelled them to the fourth position in the Bundesliga with 36 points, trailing just one point behind VfB Stuttgart in third. Additionally, the team is set to face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last 16 next month.
