Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, aged 26, is planning to adopt a new ‘mindset’ in his pursuit of more goals following his standout performance in the Gunners’ 2-1 victory at Nottingham Forest. Overcoming a knee injury, the Brazil forward scored in the 65th minute and assisted Bukayo Saka for Arsenal’s second goal seven minutes later.
Determined Goal-Scoring Approach
Since his £45 million ($57 million) move from Manchester City in 2022, Jesus has netted only 19 goals in 56 games across all competitions. Despite his contributions in setting up goals for teammates, he is now determined to focus more on boosting his individual goal tally.
“Sometimes it is all about stats and sometimes it is all about watching the game,” said Jesus. “So now, I think I change my mindset and I will be in the box more – and I try everything to score.”
Manager’s Praise and Player’s Resilience
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Jesus for his commitment to playing despite knee trouble. Arteta highlighted Jesus’ positive mentality and determination to contribute to the team’s success.
“Gabi started to win the game two days ago,” Arteta said. “When you have that mentality, good things are going to happen. I’m really pleased with him.”
Despite facing challenges, including a previous knee surgery, Jesus exhibited sharpness in training and delivered a commendable performance in the match.
