Costa Rica overthrows the “Samurai” and renders a service to Germany

Costa Rica achieved a difficult 1-0 victory over Japan, 1-0, on Sunday, at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, in the fifth group competitions of the 2022 World Cup, and at the same time rendered Germany a great service before its match against Spain later.

Costa Rica’s goal was signed by Kesher Fuller in the 81st minute. The second half was a little better, with the Japanese team pressing all the time until the Costa Rican team advanced.

Japan has one match left in Group E with Spain, while Costa Rica faces Germany in its final group match.

Japan failed to continue the momentum that led them to a shock 2-1 win over Germany in the first round of Group E and will regret the missed chances after showing little creativity against Costa Rica, who defended resolutely after their 7-0 crushing defeat by Spain in the last match.

Japan is facing a difficult situation to qualify for the knockout rounds, as it will meet Spain in the last round of Group E next Thursday.

Costa Rica suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat against Spain in their first match and were trying to maintain hope of staying in the competition.
