November 19 is International Men’s Day
The celebration of International Men’s Day dates back to 1992 when a man named Thomas Auster chose February 7 to celebrate International Men’s Day, but it was not celebrated.
Then Dr. Jerome Tiloxing, a history lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, established International Men’s Day, November 19, 1999, as a sign of respect for his father, as that date coincides with his father’s birthday.
Teluxing explained why he chose the idea of defining an International Men’s Day, which is to focus on the topics of men’s mental health, toxic masculinity, male suicide, promoting men’s health and improving gender relations.
